We, Edith and Christian Jäggi, together with our five children, Alex, Toni, Sahra, Reto, and Roman manage the Chillmattenhof in Biel-Benken. Beyond our other farm activities, including crop cultivation and dairy farming, winemaking is a deep passion of ours. Every step, from tending the vineyards to the final bottling, is carried out with care and dedication in close collaboration with Weinbau Fehr and Engeli, ensuring that each wine reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
The Grenzgänger series embodies this philosophy: wines that cross boundaries... geographic, cultural, and sensory. They combine grapes from multiple vineyards, including sites in France, creating a complex and layered profile that celebrates diversity, curiosity, and discovery. In partnership with the JONA Art Exhibition, Grenzgänger becomes more than a wine: it becomes part of a living dialogue between art and society. Just as the exhibition challenges the boundaries of a traditional gallery, inviting visitors to engage, reflect, and interact, Grenzgänger embodies this spirit of crossing limits. It is about making connections, between people, ideas, and experiences, and offering a space where different perspectives meet.
The exhibition also explores themes of identity and inequality, showing how society, environment, and circumstances shape who we are. Both the wines and the artworks are part of a shared vision: to question, to reflect, and to inspire empathy. Grenzgänger and the exhibition together create a platform that celebrates diversity, inclusivity, and the power of human connection.
